So, I'm just trying to get a handle on how common this is. If seems a bit unusual but I like the recruiter and I've already made the decision to meet up.
Months ago, the recruiter contacted me about a position, and I ended up getting going through the whole interview process. It went very well, I was told multiple times that an offer was coming, then nothing for weeks. I eventually found out that there was a temporary hiring freeze as the result of a business deal that was unexpected (but good for the hiring company). "Temporary, suuuuure...." I thought, and didn't expect to hear back.
Well, I heard back. Hiring freeze is expected to be over soon. The recruiter wants to meet in person now, and I'm not entirely sure why. I should mention that the recruiter has been extremely helpful and responsive, truly great to work with, and professional throughout the whole process. In addition, the recruiter has family at the hiring company, which may play a role.
