So, is it legal to not give employees a break? i work at a gas station, working 38 to 39 hours a week at 9.75 a damn hour. this jobs requires me to stand, help customers, clean the inside of the store, take out trash, sweep outside, clean gas pumps, clean bathrooms, ect, the list goes ON AND ON of my duties. so the manager is suppose to gives us 2 five minute breaks. but as the days go on we stop having breaks. the only chair we can sit on is the managers chair . which is only when he wanna be generous. when the manager leaves for the day, he puts the chair he sits in all day in the closet and locks the door and takes the key, so once he leaves we have no where to sit. for the remainder of our shift. then he tell us we arent allowed to sit anymore or lean over the counters if were tired! they "claim" its unprofessional.... THAT IS SOME BULLSHIT! PLEASE TELL ME IF THIS IS ILLEGAL? NO BREAKS? WE DONT EVEN HAVE A BREAK ROOM BECAUSE WE DONT TAKE LUNCH BREAKS. If we wanna eat we just eat at the registers in front of the customers. how tacky and unprofessional is that? what should i do? i cant leave until i get a car (cash car for $2000 or less) i have another job interview on thursday btw lol.
