I am currently applying to PWC, and need to know the purpose of this question.

I am currently applying to PWC, and in the online application one of the questions they asked was this: "Do you know anyone who is a current employee of PwC? If yes, please indicate the name of the employee and, if available, their PwC email address. (Please omit employees you are related to, if provided in a previous answer.)"

I happen to know someone working at the PWC branch I'm applying to (Friend, not relative), but I want to know what they're going to do with that information. Are they going to ask for a reference from the person, or is it like having someone related in that company and that has to be taken into regard in the application processing?
