I've been unemployed for about 7 months now.
Last job I worked at was a marketing firm on Wall Street. Little did I know, the owner's business and family were destroyed by the law enforcement internships I did in law school.
I was there for 11 months. It became a cat and mouse game where I ended up getting tortured and poisoned.
I feel like an idiot for getting scammed into that, but him and his team were good enough that the owner owned his own building on Wall Street a block away from the New York Stock Exchange.
I got "fired" because I found out he had tapped my equipment through some savvy social engineering and tech work, mainly, finding the most vulnerable points on his team (i.e., seducing one of his loyal female employees).
I almost died at that place. Getting poisoned fucking sucks dick. I was able to get unemployment to survive, even after he tried to scam me on it by hiding my employment information in one of his many mysterious subsidiary companies.
What a hellish experience. I'm lucky I'm not dead right now. That guy had a death wish for me. If I had known what I do now, I never would've worked there or put my dumb little law enforcement internships on my resume.
Now I'm picking myself up from a near-death experience after poisoning and hell, and I'm wondering, how do I explain this to HR at my next job?
I know jobs hate employment gaps and people being unemployed, so I'm trying to figure out my story here. I'd like to get back to work.

Edit: Whelp, looks like I can't find any advice or anyone to talk to, because Reddit dorks who've been coddled their entire lives who live in a bubble simply can't imagine anything outside of it, despite seeing with their own eyes this shit exists on the news.
