I recently discovered that I lost custody of my son to the system, the mother moved away and all this craziness happened. I'm already in the works to get him back, establishing paternity, and everything else. It just sucks. It hurts not being able to be his father and be there for him, it's this undying, yearning feeling that I want to be there for him, and see him... so I recently got to thinking and in no way made a rash decision on this, and have done a lot of thinking on this matter. I want to help kids, be a role model, or even just be there for them and help them in more ways than just looking out for their safekeeping. Are there any careers I could pursue or begin to look into and start finding a job that allows me to help children/teens in need? I'm not a weirdo or anything, I just really think this is something I'd be good at, and I think it would be good for me as I go through the rigmarole of not seeing my son. I'm 28 years old, I've graduated and have some college under my belt but I really haven't got any real path just yet, just a job I work 9-5 most days. I already got my CPR certification, I've had it and maintained it since being a paramedic 4 years ago. I would also like to note this isn't an emotional decision either, just something I think I would enjoy because I'm great with kids and I love the feeling of helping others, why not try and join both and see where it goes? Edit: All my student loans are paid off and I am able to go back if needed.
