Employer asking where I submitted my resume after 3 weeks of working for them

So my boyfriend has been doing well at his job as a Physical therapy tech and loves it. It’s only part time but he has a degree in biology and is applying to physician assistant school soon. He is just trying to kill time before his GRE and building his resume. He never lied on his resume but has no experience in PT and they hired him. 3 weeks after working with them they’re asking where he submitted his resume. He is super anxious about it, why would an employer ask this 3 weeks in after the hiring process? Could they be looking at firing him for lack of experience? He obviously has had some minor slip ups cause this is all new but has been doing very well.
