As a property manager that works for my mom, am I considered Standard US employment, Contract, or Self-employment?
I'm filling out a background check on career builder to apply for a new job, and it's asking me to describe my previous employment. I have a real estate licence, and my mom is my managing broker. She has full ownership of the property management company, but I perform all the duties aside from purchasing homes and finding investors, so I still listed my position as Property Manager. On taxes, I think I list myself as an independent contractor, but I'm not sure what to put here since the self-employment option tells me to list myself as an owner or partner of my mom's company. I don't own or have any shares in the company. I receive a monthly salary from the company as well as commission for finding tenants. I'm a little confused as to my employment type, since we never talked about it or wrote up any official paperwork. It's just the 2 of us.
Would my position be considered Standard, Contract, or Self employment?
