Job competition

Anyone ever wonder how to determine how much competition there is for a specific job title in a certain area?

For instance, I can do front end development even though I'm currently a ux desiger. It would be so helpful to find out which title has more competition so I could focus on either title. Recruiters or hiring managers, do you have insight into which is more competitive within the tech field? This is on the west coast btw.
