California Unemployment question re: trailing spouse provision

I accepted a new job out of state and my wife will be eligible for unemployment benefits due to the trailing spouse provision. We are moving early march and I start my new job mid-March. Does anyone know how soon my wife can quit her job in CA and start her unemployment claim? Would mid-February be too soon? What would EDD consider an acceptable quit date?  There is no info on the EDD website specific to this question. Thanks in advance.
