B2B “collections” with insurance company. Parents don’t think I should do it. Should I keep looking?

Graduated last month in Econ. I recently moved back in with my parents to be closer to better job market and save money(I was living in a shithole).

My current job is at a gym, part time and minimum wage(11.50). The work is ok and I like the auto ops here for the most part. I’m in the middle of transferring to the gym down here and the team seems a lot better than the one at my old location. Not technically starting at new place but should be fine.

I got in touch with a temp agency before the transfer and they recently offered a position(interview) that’s collections for small amount(under 5k) and is supposed to just be companies. Data entry and etc. it’s 6 months and is 30min-1hr away but downtown(so could be worse). It’s full time and could turn into a permanent position.

Parents are worried the that work will sucks/really be soul sucking. They said for the distance and pay it’s not worth it.

I admittedly just said yes to an interview because of the money, but think parents are right. I’m pursuing some stuff(web design, programming, and some creative stuff) on the side that I want to turn into my career. Self studying mostly. Parents seem ok if I use the spare time for studying/building my portfolio.

I want more money, and am waiting on some better jobs like teller, but could see how the job could suck. Is the pay alone worth it? Or should I just keep working at gym and try to get full time? This is assuming that the teller job doesn’t come through(could have to wait up to a month).
