Resume tip: Keep growing ?

I was assigned the task of reviewing job applications and picking out candidates to interview, and one thing I've noticed in these resumes is the tendency for people to become too comfortable where they're at and they stop stretching themselves. They either stay too long in a job that's not exactly marquee (you were a waitress for 3 years and another 2 as a bartender). Or they get their bachelors and don't go back and get their masters or phd. They get a slightly better job and the momentum just stops, they stick at the same job doing the same duties for 5, 6 years, no longer expanding that list of accomplishments, just spinning their wheels. It's as if most people get to a point where they're satisfied and they're no longer challenging themselves, they stop growing. The resumes where the person doesn't let grass grow under their feet, where folks are clearly continuing to expand their repertoire, to seek out new opportunities, taking risks, new roles, new skills, those are the resumes that stood out during this exercise. This person could've spent ten years being an admin assistant but he went back and got his masters and became an assistant director. Resumes like that stood out to me. I wonder if any recruiters notice the same?
