Long story short: I just graduated from a very reputable university in May, and got my bachelor's in a self-designed program on ecology, nutrition, and agriculture. I consistently struggled with housing insecurity and sometimes homelessness in college, and worked full-time alongside being a full-time student. I consequently failed some classes. On a few occasions I intentionally let myself fail elective classes so I could focus my energy on courses I needed for my degree.
I'm now applying for jobs, and I'm terrified about recruiters looking at my transcript. Even the government jobs require it to confirm my degree, and I don't know how I would address it with a potential employer without quickly making the interview far too personal. Any tips on how to deal?
