Question. Fired or resigned.

Today I was let go from my part time job where I was basically on good terms with the Gm but the assistant Store manager and I didn’t get along. The Gm knows I’m studying in school and my time was limited but these last 2 weeks Corp cut hours. I was affected but still worked hard. But the the assistant was noticeably stressed everytime I worked with them. Basically I was let go today due to poor work performance from that Manager but not the main one but they asked me to sign a resignation letter. I said no bc I didn’t resign, they let me go. I’ve never had that happen before. Can someone explain? They said it’s within the 3 months probationary period and they like me but my performance was poor. Thanks
