Should I accept a role knowing the hiring manager has no prior hands-on experience?

This question is for all fields not just Technical Support.

I just had a bizarre interview with the Director where she/he has no prior hands-on experience whatsoever. Wouldn't it be easier for a director to understand our work and is relatable rather than just ask:

  • "how much time it would take to fix this cause I have no idea about tech?"
  • "what's your take on it? What would you do?"
  • "do we have a workaround?"
  • "report back with the numbers"
  • "I'm expecting you to take 10 inquiries a day. That is your new quota"

What do they actually do anyways for those of you have hiring managers without any hands-on experience?

I felt like accepting this role would be a nightmare.
