Looking to move out food service to tech support or similar field. Any suggestions?

I have spent better part of 25 years in retail and food service and I am so done. My aptitude is with customer service and technology/computers so I figure I would be good at tech support. Yet I find it really difficult to even get an interview let alone hired. I do have a misdemeanor from 12 years ago, and that has caused me some problems as well.

Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.
