I'm currently working at a retail store in the mall, with my only other job experience being at a different smaller independent retail job. Both jobs are/were seasonal. At my first job, I was never alone, I wasn't given keyholding responsibility or anything like that. Just a warm body to run a check out and clean. At my current job, I'm expected to be a keyholder and work by myself for 4-8 hours per shift. Normally this wouldn't really be a problem but I was hired for this job before Thanksgiving, and on Thanksgiving night I unfortunately got really bad food poisoning and was in the er for three days. During my time in the hospital and the about a week recovery after, I was formally diagnosed with IBS-D (turns out I've actually had IBS my whole life, explains why I practically live in the bathroom.) And so, I worked two days at this job before thanks giving, two days last weekend (had to call off a day in there somewhere...) and all four of my working days have been with another worker there as I was in training.
I guess the point of my asking is I've never quit a job before and I'm not sure how to go about it. It is currently 10:30am and I am expected to work 4:30-8:30pm today. There is no way that I can work by myself for basically any amount of time, and I'm not sure how to put that professionally and I'm not sure if I should even go into work today, or just burn the bridge as it's just a retail job I'm not super invested in anyway. I dont have any way to contact my boss or coworkers other than by phone/text. No email.
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.
