I want to know what to tell an employer (pre-interview question) about my reasons for relocation, and I’m conflicted about the best way to answer them.

Applied for a job, they have offered me an interview. However, the job is out of state. In their email asking if I’m available for interview, a question asked was basically “are you moving here only if you get this job or are you moving here because you were already planning to?”

What do I say to this? It’s truly and seriously one of my dreams to live where this job is, but of course I can’t just move so far away and hope to get a professional job, get an apartment, etc on a blind leap of faith. I do have family and friends in the area (like, within 100mile radius), is it wise to mention them?

So do I answer something like “I am planning to move regardless of the position as it has been something I have looked forward to for a long time and have family in the area”

I feel like they are expecting this answer, but I really need help with it. I don’t have the money to just up and move somewhere without a job lined up, but really have been planning to move there once I get a job lined up. Idk. Very conflicted.
