Hey there reddit, I'm having a hard time finding writing related jobs. I graduated from UCLA and did some internships writing for online magazines and I did publish some photography as well, but have not ended up with a job relating to any of those things. Writing content or copy isn't actually what I want to do for the rest of my career. I'm actually leaning for a medical route in Speech and Language pathology, but in the meantime, I figured that I should work in something that has to do with writing since it is one of my stronger qualities. Every job post I run into on LinkedIn or Indeed seem to require a number of years of experience or I'll end up coming across some bullet points on the postings that make me ineligible for the job. I'm currently employed with a non-profit as a recreation coach, so I create and run activities for kids, but it is not really somewhere I see myself working down the line. I'm grateful for the experience and the paycheck, but its really not me. It's just keeping me afloat in the meantime. I'm hoping to work full-time somewhere else while picking up some evening classes that will prepare me for a masters program in Speech and Language Pathology down the line. Any advice on how I should navigate my job search or do any of you recommend I look into a different kind of work. I've heard that English majors do well in marketing, but to be honest I don't even know what a marketing job entails. Thanks in advance for the help.
