How recent should your professional references be?

So a company wants to move forward with making me a formal written offer, but they're asking me 3 references. I'm currently employed and dont wanna let anyone in my work know about my job hunting. Before my current job I was in college for 5 yrs. My last job was from 2012-2013 thru which I have no contacts with anyone :( and previous job I had was till 2011. I have all the 3 references only from that jobs. They all moved on to better positions elsewhere, none of them is with the same firm anymore. Would that be acceptable reference?
