I am a 29 y/o (who looks like a teenager or early 20's if that makes a difference) whose only paid work was one shift as a pizza delivery driver. I found it too stressful (it is more stressful than it seems and driving in general stresses me out). I have applied to fast food places several times (I applied to McDonald's/BK in 2016 and again recently including other ones) and I don't even hear back from them most of the time.
I have applied to temp roles/agencies, lab assistant and data entry and even they want experience.
I have also applied to various retail positions including supermarkets and even jobs related to my degree which I am not even interested in btw. I applied to so many things until I felt like I was running out of things to apply for.
I don't have any kind of career network.
I have applied to two different universities to do a one year bridging programme which is the equivalent of a different major but I don't even know if that will help me. Still waiting to hear back from them.
The only work experience I have on my resume is volunteer work with various charities.
I don't ever really buy anything and I live with my mother if you were going to ask me how I get by. I pay for the power with my savings and I was on welfare for a short amount of time.
