Hello friends of Reddit.
I'm 24 years old, spent 3.5 years as an Army Paralegal, and a year working construction as a laborer before returning to college.
It has come to my attention that I really do not like sedentary jobs. Honestly, I loved working construction, the only reason I turned away from it was because 60 - 84 hour work weeks were the norm and I generally couldn't stand the bullshit machismo attitude lots of people had. Somehow this was a worse problem in construction than in the Army. I like the Army a good bit, but I didn't enjoy paralegal work and I can't run for shit so I didn't reenlist.
In essence, I'm trying to figure out what to do with my life and I have still got not fucking clue. I want to work outside, but I really don't want to work more than 40-50 hours a week. I also don't want to be poor as shit either. 50K a year is plenty if I can work up to it, I don't need a whole lot of money to make my life work, but most jobs that sound like the kind of thing I want to do either A) Pay well under 50k a year, even accounting for career progression, or B) work well over 50 hours / week.
What kind of things can I do? I'm already half way to saying fuck it and getting a degree in whatever seems to pay well and hoping for the best, but I really don't want to be the guy.
