As a little introduction, i am Pharmacy Technician at a corporate chain food store and i have worked here for going on 3 years barely miss any days from my daily routine, make sure my work gets done and work with an AMAZING Pharmacy Manager who really wants the best for me buys me lunch and is really down to earth and there is his counterpart who is much the same but more quiet and meticulous in his work (which i can understand and admire he works hard) and another technician like myself but with less experience and had worked previously in the pharmacy that i work in. I in total have 4 years of experience in this field and still only make $10.65 and was hired at $10.00 hourly, after have been here for 3 years and obviously the economic environment having changed in Connecticut and all across the states this wage is simply not enough at 30 hours to get anything i need to get done taken care of. The upper management upon request from myself has told me that they want me to get the PTCB certfication but it doesnt really apply to non hospital pharmacy as most of it is IV compounding, doing flow rate calculations etc and they will only pay me more if the Union i am under agrees i should be paid more even though the rep i spoke to said they have nothing to do with my wage and it is the DM of my district that is responsible so it just seems like i am getting the run around in pursuing a raise no matter how much i point out that the competition pays at least $13.00 i have good work ethic and give my all every day should i just pick up and leave? Even the customers there tell me that i am being abused by the corporate monkeys. Mind you my pharmacists are great people, its not them but the people above them. I do not know how this place thinks they are incentivizing their staff to work better and harder when they can't pay a half way decent wage to those like myself who work hard and want to have a higher position etc.
