When I interviewed at PT job back in August, they said they would work around my availability. My first week I had three shifts. My store owner after that third shift explained that she couldn’t keep scheduling me short shifts, and that she wanted employees 9-3 or 3-9.
I explained to her that this would not work with my FT job. I’m 9-5 or 1-9. I have one designated day off to get downtime with my boyfriend, and I can’t demand a second scheduled day from FT job. I also mention that although I was receiving my schedule two weeks in advance, from November to February it’s a week in advance on a Wednesday. PT job has their schedule Tuesday morning.
All that being said, she said it was fine (after complaining about my availability) and that we would work through it.
So now, obviously, we’re at that point and she’s asking me to get scheduled several days off at FT job. This simply isn’t happening. They pay better, give better hours, and have many more benefits.
To throw another wrench into the loop, PT owner has suggested me for a FT key holder position at a town 30 minutes away. I appreciate her belief in me, even though I work once a week for her if anything, but I feel like she thinks I’m going to take the offer when all I’ve said is that I would consider it. She couldn’t even guarantee me I’d get the same pay, which is super cruddy - taking into consideration I have the experience and would then have to commute.
My boyfriend thinks I’ll be able to work it out with the PT job and just continue doing my one day a week. But they schedule before FT job, so all they would really need me for are when other people call out - and I think they’re disappointed that I haven’t even been able to do that.
