Hi all,
I'm head of a corporate function at my organisation (which is a UK public sector organisation), I quite like my role. 8 weeks in, I have been given a strong steer that I would be a very suitable candidate for a role coming up in the pipeline by a very senior management employee. It's a promotion, higher salary.
The thing is, I don't really know what to do. The new role is more functional and less hands-on leadership based but I don't mind that. My problem is that 12 weeks in, I've incorporated a transformation programme in my team which is making good progress after the team itself has had years of bad change management. Attitudes and behaviours are changing, it's good to see my efforts making a change.
I feel like I've made a commitment to my current employer to stay for a while but some have said 'don't be silly, you have to think about yourself'. If I get the new role, I'll be bumping into these employees who may feel I've burned my bridges with them after so blatantly jumping to another role.
What would your advice be? Would really appreciate anyone who has been in a similar conundrum! Thanks all!
