Employer Informed Me They Will Stop paying Insurance Premiums

So as the title states, my employer (HR) stated today they are no longer allowed (legally) to pay my premiums on my health insurance for year 2019. They said instead they would bump my pay up by the cost of the premium for next year to make up for me having to pay my own premium. Does that make sense? Am I missing something? I am in the USA. They said effectively I would be net 0 change in my income...
