Switching Positions Within A Company

I was hired as a PPC specialist at m company about 5 months ago. Recently I learned that the woman who does our social media and content marketing is leaving. I’m very interested in her position and believe that I have the skills and experience to do her job (my resume reflects this).

How do I approach my boss and tell her I’d like to be considered for the social media/content marketing position?
