Hey everyone, I’m a senior in college double majoring in the social sciences. I’m really interested in politics, communication, research, and journalism. I have done 3 internships in fields related to marketing and public relations, but I am starting to realize that I really do not fit an office setting. This is making me seriously reconsider my career options.
I’m the type of person who likes to work really hard on projects independently. I find the routine and rigidity of an office setting extremely limiting and I feel like I can’t get any work done when I’m actually there. I would love a career where I can work really independently and have some flexibility with hours and location.
I was wondering if the Reddit community could help point me in a possible direction here. I have considered an academic career by going for PhD and doing research/teaching, and have also thought about writing/journalism, etc. what sort of careers could I have that might provide some of these qualities?
