Interview Coming Up for Preferred Job, but Expecting Job Offer this week.

Hello! I’ve been unemployed for 5 months as I went to help family for 4 months and have been job searching in my city for the past month. I have been interviewing with Job A and am expecting a job offer this week after several rounds of interviews that went fantastic. Job A is a wonderful non-profit job, however it pays as a non-profit would.

I applied to Job B earlier around the same time as Job B be because it is a government job, they took longer to respond. I have great recommendations/connections to help get Job B but I’m only going in for the second round of interviews this week. There is likely a third round. Job B pays double the salary, is also something I really want to do but have little experience in. If I get hired, they will definitely train me thoroughly and I would also be doing good work.

I am also leaving the country during the Thanksgiving week for 8 days.

Dilemma: I would prefer to work for Job B due to the higher salary and Interesting new job opportunity but obviously don’t know if I will get hired, past this upcoming stage. I will definitely get an offer from Job A this week. How do I navigate this situation?

Do I tell Job A “no thank you” after getting the offer because I want to work for Job B even though I don’t know if I will get the job?

Do I tell Job A “yes” but keep interviewing for Job B until I get an offer and quit Job A?

Do I tell Job A that I am going abroad for an entire week and will hold off on my decision until I’m back?

Thank you for your help!
