How do I go into this 2nd round interview for manager?

So my job position is a “senior” position, but technically it’s viewed as a step higher than our entry level position. It’s a data heavy job position but we aren’t considered data analysts.

However I just interviewed to become a manager of my team which entails keeping the team momentum going and also getting together with other managers of different teams and seeing how we can improve our company.

I surprisingly made it to round 2 of our interviews, despite feeling like I didn’t do so hot to begin with. I felt like I wasn’t being confident in my answers even though I know what I’m doing, I’m just super shy and anything that has me talking about myself makes me bashful. However I know that won’t correlate to the job itself because I’ve been doing manager-like stuff since we are down 1 manager (hence the reason for the interviews). 3 of us from the team are currently competing for the spot.

The feedback I got from my first interview was that I need to be more confident in my answers (duh) but also to be more solution oriented and be less mechanical in my thinking.

I’ve been practicing how I deliver my job responsibilities but how do I answer questions that’ll showcase my ability to do “less mechanical thinking” and more solution oriented answers?

I thought this feedback was odd because I’m in my first interview I talked about how I caught a process issue between our local team and our global team but was able to get everything squared away. So now I’m wondering if I’m just misunderstanding what my feedback meant.

Also what kind of managerial questions should I be expecting for round 2 interviews? Will they be the same as the first?

Thanks for any advice y’all can give!!
