Employer threatening to leave a bad reference if I leave after contract expires

Hi guys, I am currently a student in Canada (Alberta) and this semester I am doing a work term at a big bank here in Canada. The work term is supposed to go until December 28th (thats when the contract ends) with the potential to last another 8 months after that. Right now is a busy time at the bank and a lot of people are leaving, I am really not a fan of the job I have right now (mostly a teller) but I really want to work with this bank after I graduate and potentially for another work term in another position. I had a meeting with my manager the other day and she asked If I could extend my work term, I said that I wouldn't be able to because I don't want to graduate too late. She got upset by this and said that she wouldn't be able to recommend me if I use her as a reference (which I would have to do if I want another role at this bank), I told her earlier that I wanted to work at this bank in the future so thats probably why she is threatening this. Im just curious to what you guys think I should do, should I suck it up and do another work term to secure this reference. Maybe try to do part time? Thanks in advance.
