So the company I work for is closing/merging with another company. There's a girl I work with that is smart, gets along with my boss, he tried creating a job for her friend, that didn't really need to exist, and ultimately hired her so she's essentially this girls personal assistant. There's only two girls there. Both of them were given a lot more training opportunities than I was outside of our job. People like spending time with them sometimes training them while I was basically told what to do and to figure it out. I ultimately invented a lot of new more efficient ways of doing things. It's a job were there's a mix of blue collar and college level jobs. When my college level job is slow, I volunteer/ or volen-told to help out with the other work. The blue collar people also try to start fights with me by doing things like asking for naked pictures of my mom and saying their going get with my mom and be my dad. I tell them they're weirdos and brush it off. I'm here to collect a paycheck. I don't complain to HR because it's who they are. They buy the girls food as presents which probably adds up to 200/month. My job has been telling me she's also getting laid off, but now I find out she's getting a 100% pay increase and a substantial bonus to move AND she's been my boss for the past 2 months. I wasn't told this until Friday, when she was flying to the new job Sunday. Anyway, I'm doing the job alone indefinitely working 65 hours a week, while two girls who had the same title as me worked 40 hours a week. They didn't want to work nighshift, so I'm working nights to help them out. How the fuck do you go from not working to work to getting a promotion? Also, I congratulated her on her new job and told her favoritism at an entry level job isn't something to base your career on, which she basically agreed that she's getting paid 3 times as much for her job as the market rate, especially when I have 6 years experience (4 at this job) and she has 1.
I'm also in a protected class (disability). I don't go to work to do crappy work, but how should I handle this until it's over? I want to collect unemployment.
