Cover Letter Advice (Specifically second paragraph)

I feel like I'm not doing my cover letter right. In the second (and sometimes third) paragraph, I've read you're supposed to speak to specific experiences that provide evidence that you're a good candidate, but I feel like my CL is just so verbose. I have a few specific questions:

- Should I only talk about one position in depth in this paragraph?

- Would it be better to use one position per qualification that they're looking for? (Example: assistantship shows organization; president of a club shows innovation)

- How do I cut down on fluff but still show personality?

Any advice would be really appreciated!
