Contract position ended without notice. Personal belongings are still at workplace. How do I go about retrieving them?

So this past Friday after coming home from work I got a phone call from my staffing agency telling me that the company had been working at had decided to end my assignment and that Friday was my last day. It was definitely a bit of a shock since it seemed so out of the blue. The week prior I had gained new job duties and had received a lot praise from the co-workers who were training me. And I never had been reprimanded for a bad job performance.

I did recently have my 6 month anniversary there so I suppose that may have had something to do with it. And the only other person in my department from my staffing agency had her assignment end about 3 weeks ago. I guess it was a bit naive of me not to see it coming but I expected there to be some sort of notice.

Anyways, since I wasn't given any prior notice I didn't have the chance to retrieve my personal items. A few of the things that are still there are a jacket, cardigan, travel mug, and some rocks and minerals I was using as desk decorations. None of the items are extremely valuable but I'd still like them back. I don't think they can just hang onto my stuff since they are my personal belongings.

So how exactly do I go about doing this in the least awkward way possible? Showing up unannounced doesn't seem like a good option. And even though I got along well with my co-workers I don't have their contact info. So If I did want to get in touch I'd have to do some social media creeping and contact them that way. I've thought about calling and asking my former boss about it but it'd be uncomfortable since she was aware of what was going on and didn't notify me about it beforehand.
