One week notice?

Tomorrow I will be quitting a food service job I hate for a career job which I will be starting in January. (Yay!) The manager where I currently work is a real incompetent piece of work without an ounce of respect for his employees and he fosters a punitive/overall negative work environment.

I'm thinking of stating that I can work the rest of the schedule that's out, which goes through Sunday, and then washing my hands of the place. For more background, I have worked there less than six months and never expected a reference.

My husband thinks I should suck it up and give a proper two weeks notice, because not doing so could have consequences down the road.

What do you folks think?
