So, I landed an interview for a job, and I thought everything was going well. They kept saying that the pay was "30-35". Being that I am in a skilled labor, I assumed it was the per hour rate. The benefits package is good, everything else about the job is excellent.. Until I got my offer letter and it says $32,000 per year. In my state that's BARELY above minimum wage. I can't pay rent and student loans with that.
What's worse is the people in my life are all but forcing me to take this job. I have 0 motivation to do this job now. None. This pay is a poverty wage here. I can't get out of poverty with it, and there's no room for advancement or promotion or anything since it's a small company.
I'm not sure what to do. The whole "Do the job for the experience" bit is tired and I'm jaded. The job isn't worth the pay. I feel like I got fleeced by their poor communication and now I'm stuck with this offer letter for a job I no longer want. Not sure what to do. I know the whole "take the job and look for a new one", but I don't even WANT this one to begin with. I suffer from mental health issues and I just know that I'll be unmotivated due to the shit pay rate. I doubt I'll even get a good reference out of this place.
