I received a phone call from my boss on 12/17 letting me know that my position was being terminated. He asked for my personal email and said he’d be following up on Monday with more information with instruction on returning my equipment (remote worker) and he also mentioned that they’d be offering severance. Well now it’s end of day Tuesday and I still have no formal notice that I have been let go. The company is very small and HIGHLY disorganized so it could be due to their incompetence and having no HR person, but I feel a little paranoid because the consultants running our company are a bit shady. I have the logins to several important platforms, and he was eager to bring up the word lawyer when he started discussing my handling of how/if I share those passwords as if he was expecting me to push back. I honestly could care less, I’ll give them whatever they want, this place has been awful to work for and I just want this chapter to close. I’ve got their computer, and my cell is on their business plan so I want that taken care of ASAP. So my next move is to reach out to my former employer and gently remind them that they terminated me and that I’d like to go ahead and get this taken care of so I can enjoy my Christmas. So………What should I say when contacting them ? AND, is there anything I should be proactively doing before I contact them?
