I am usually working librarian jobs, but I am a recent graduate and I am having trouble finding my footing in the profession. I have been unemployed so it's tough to determine what is right for me.
Recently, I got an interview to be an intellectual property assistant in a law firm, I was stoked - I have been very interested in law and law librarianship and the work conditions+benefits were 100! BUT I got a bit too comfortable in the interviews and admitted that I wondered if I would like it since it's very admin-oriented and less "librarian-y". Now of course they turned me down, with no indication of wanting to keep my resume. Their feedback was that training was too big an investment to risk on me, and they preferred someone more admin-driven.
I regret this a lot. The workplace seemed great, and I actually enjoyed my interviews. If I were hired I planned on staying multiple years, but I wanna find out for myself if I like it firsthand. I plan on honing my legal research skills and maybe reapply in the future (the posting is still up!!). How can I convince HR to give me another chance?
Thank you for reading this today - I hope you are chilling at home and healthy!
