Got a call from recruiter today. I think he was just talking me into giving him inside information about my company.
I live in the UK and recently I have been applying to loads of jobs on LinkedIn. A recruiter calls me today and most of the call he was really encouraging and giving me good guidance and asking me about why I want to leave my company, how do I recruit in my company, and honestly it was a 30mins call where I was thinking I was having an open conversation with him but towards the end, he said he was trying to recruit a person who had joined our company last week and she had picked our company over the company he was recruiting her for. Then it all clicked. Maybe he was using me to gain some inside info or insight into the company. I have no idea. I feel used and deceived.
He said he was going to send me a message after, but didn't.
Sometime during the call I had asked him if all we were saying was confidential. I was really maybe over sharing or hoping he would be able to guide me in the right direction to level up as he seemed to be intelligent and knowledgeable.
Is this common? Am I in trouble? sigh..who can you ever trust in this shit world anymore.
I really just want to be able to trust people and seek some help with my career. Is that too difficult to ask for.
