Company said they'd get back to me "next week" after a solid interview. I followed up. They never got back to me.

I interviewed with a company for a month. It was a pretty slow process. After my final interview, they told me they didn't think I would need to relocate as they were thinking of creating a remote position for me. Sounded like they were going to hire me. They told me they'd call me the following week to iron out the details. I waited a week. I sent an email to follow-up and tell them I was very interested still. I'm on week 2 now and still haven't heard a thing. Do I wait for them to respond or do I message them again? Will that come off as desperate on my part?
