I’ve signed an offer for a job and am now going through the background check phase. I had to put in my previous employers for the last 10 years, which included 3 employers. The company performing the background check is asking for either offer letters, W-2s, tax returns, or 1099s from 2 of the 3 employers. The catch is they want one for the year that I was hired by the first company (2011) and the year I left the first company (2015), and they want one from the 3rd company in the year that I was hired (2015) and the year that I left (2021). They don’t want anything from the 2nd employer that I was with for the brief time in 2015. Unfortunately, I don’t have anything from company number 1 from 2011 or 2015. I do have a later W-2 from 2014 and a different tax return (2012) that reflects the company’s name. Should I try to contact the company performing the background check and see if they are willing to accept other forms of proof of employment? Or does anyone else have additional advice?
