After graduating, I took this job which I've been at for 10 years now. I currently earn $100K/yr. I have never negotiated my salary or asked for more, I've just accepted whatever they gave me. I am probably underpaid for my job position. However, for the last 6 years, I've done almost no work (less than 1 hour a day on average), and therefore I've been making out very well from this job considering the low amount of work.
This job isn't going to last forever. The writing has been on the wall for years already that we are in decline, and I fully expect we'll be shut down soon, probably within the next 3 years max.
I am 32 years old and have a very young family. My wife does not work. We've saved about $700K but do not own a house, and we require $30K/yr to live, so we are nowhere near being able to comfortably retire.
In my free time I've dabbled with investing, flipping, and creating an online business, but haven't managed to really turn any of those into a good income source. I don't have a lot of creativity or drive.
What should I do to prepare for my next career move when the time comes?
