My boss is amazing: I told her that I was going through a breakup and would not be performing as I usually do. In response she called me a few days later and said, “pack your clothes, you are travelling and spending time on the road to have a great time”.

She has been my boss for the last 18 months and has invested the world in me. I’ve been able to deliver a larger number of projects. Our team started with just us two but has grown to 8. We work in virtual care for the public health system.

I am leading a project called “Enhancements”. We also have a really cool project that involves travel. And I told her that I won’t be able to travel as my Enhancements project is priority. Our vendor has been giving us a tough time and I’ve been holding the forte.

She calls me and says

“open your calendar young lady. I know you’re working on enhancements but you’re more than an enhancement in my life. Next week you’re travelling.

You’ve had a very shit year. Your brother has covid, your hometown was locked down for months because of covid and now your going through a breakup.

You need a road trip and flights with the girls. I can organise a project lead in your place”.

I’m really fortunate. Thought I’d share the nice face of healthy workspaces.
