For context:
I've applied for roles at Citibank in the past and it was usually a very quick process from application to recruiter contact, to interviewing and eventual hire (all within 3 weeks at max). This time around, I'm not sure what's going on with the process:
- Applied 8/12
- Contacted by recruiter for standard employment questions 8/19
Since then I've been in contact with the recruiter every so often to check-in. Every time I get, "I'm not sure what's going on with the position or you are still in the running but we are not interviewing yet." At this point, it is exhausting to chase after the recruiter as I have not gotten any contact in about a month. I've written them off as I continue on my job search.
The curiosity of what is going on is still there though. Has anyone experienced this? I have three theories:
- They do not want to disqualify me and others in case their top candidates back out.
- With the new COVID-19 Vaccination Update (email sent out November 3) they are weary of hiring anyone.
- The recruiter didn't want to have the tough conversation and say I wasn't chosen and decided leaving me on "read" was easier.
