Hi everyone, I am looking for an outside opinion on a situation I find myself currently in.
A company similar to the company that I am currently working in reached out to me on Wednesday to apply for a job at their company that was similar to what I am doing now but with added job responsibilities that interested me. I thought it was interesting enough to apply just because why not. They asked me to come in the next day, Thursday, for an interview so I went just to get more details on the job because, why not. Now this morning, Friday, they call me to let me know that they want to hire me. I asked them to send me a formal offer letter so that I could take a few days to consider it to which they replied that they would need my answer by the end of today because they have to "let other candidates know" (whatever that means). Now I start to feel a little weird about it but I say okay I will wait for the offer letter. Now they finally send me the offer letter at 4 PM which if I consider midnight to be EOD a mere 8 hours to make my decision. I feel like this is very suspicious and inconsiderate given the fact that I was so responsive the past few days and I only have met them 2 days prior. The reason I am still considering the job is because it is a very large pay increase to what I am being paid now. However, I don't think "letting other candidates know" their outcome isn't a good enough reason to not even let me take 24 hours to think about taking the job. I would love to know what y'all think about this.
