I started working as a pre-apprentice Millwright back in June, got into the apprenticeship a month ago. Not from the area so I slept in my truck at first then got a camper. I I have been working for the same contractor the whole time and have been working steady on four different sites in the last five months. The last job I was on I had to leave for class for union apprenticeship classes for two weeks. They had a hotline to call and leave a message if you were going to miss work. I called about a week in advance and left the message. A couple days later one of the Project Managers on a different job asked me if I wanted to come work on his job, a long term job with a raise, per diem and paid hotel room, non of which I had at the time. I got the offer because a made a good name for myself right out of the gate, your name is everything in this trade. I said yes, and he said to come right after class. The new job being about 3 states away from the last one. Class was 2 hours away for two weeks then onto the next job. So I got wrapped up in traveling, passing class so I could keep doing this, and enjoying some time off the job and failed to call in and tell the last job I wasn't coming back. I kind of thought the people above my head making decisions about me were in communication too but no. Monday I started at the new job and got a text asking why I wasn't back at work. I told them where I was, explained myself and apologized, they were kind of pissed, but also said it's ok. I get it and I'm really kicking myself. No call no show stuff will really get you a terrible reputation and it screws up the staffing plans they have. Just bugs me a lot, I have got a good thing goin, I really like the work I'm doing and I don't need a black mark like that in the back of my mind to throw me off, or give any ammo to anyone to use against me. I apologized and explained myself as much as could and they said no worries I guess I'm posting here to try to get my head right. This company has treated me really well and it bugs me. It has affected my performance, confidence, etc. I'm a people pleaser and I don't know to get back in my groove and kicking my craft in the butt again. This is my life, there's no turning back and I want to rock it. Thanks guys
