Career path for pricing analyst at energy company?

I’m currently interviewing for a pricing analyst role for a large fuel company (Exxon, Murphy’s USA, QT, etc.) and not quite sure what the role entails. It seems to be pretty technical, focused on setting prices.

Anyone who’s worked in a similar role: is it very math/stats heavy? What kind of career opportunities are there?
