Recently I threw a joke at the assistant manager. On that day I was cleaning my bin as it had recycleable paper. I was grabbing my bin with the paper inside and throwing it into the big recycle bin. The assistant manager was also going to throw her paper away too, however as soon as she got there she just threw her paper that was on her bin all into my bin, and walked away. I called her name with a friendly tone. And she with a friendly tone responded that by now I should know that she can do whatever she wants here.
A few minutes later she was looking for someone, and so she asked the staff there where she was at. She then said I think she is hiding from me. I jokingly responded with I don't blame her. She stayed silent after that and so did the other staff. The other people there gave me this look like did you really say that to the assistant manager. (Honestly at the time I was just trying to joke around with her as I figured that people who dish out jokes can take jokes thrown at them.)
At this point I figured she was not having any positive feelings towards me, but later that day she did make two jokes towards me. Which might mean that she doesn't completely dislike me. But, at this point I figured that I might not want to get too comfortable with any higher ups. And decided to respond by either being silent to imply that it's too far or laughing it off implying that it is not too far.
I know she has influence over my schedule and any reviews that will affect any potential raises I may recieve. How badly do you think this will effect me? Should I be concerned? Am I overthinking this? Honestly the job is great, but I lack social intellegiance. Which is something that will hinder me until I become competent.
