17M First part-time job, would like help deciding between two promising options: Retail or Automotive?

Not too concerned about the difference between retail and automotive, I'd be interested in either.

• Option 1: Automotive, Higher per hour pay, lower hours total. Little customer service/talking to people. Smaller company.
• Option 2: Retail, Lower per hour pay, more hours total. Mostly customer service/sales. Large corporation.

The pay averages out so my weekly pay is about the same, I'm not too concerned about working slightly longer hours. I plan on going to college for either some sort of engineering or for some sort of international studies. The main point is, that I want to get better at talking to people, and what better option then immersion therapy, so in that regard, I lean toward option 2. But the slightly higher pay and lower hours is enticing. Not really doing this because I need money, but I would like some.

I don't know, It's hard to put this confliction I have into words. I would appreciate your thoughts.

Also, on a side note. Both places seem really enthusiastic about me, and are ready and pushing for me to start, so how would I go about letting one of them down?
