The only articles I see about job sharing are two people sharing the same position but just working half the hours each day. What if instead, each day of work is a full day, but then it gives you a free day of vacation?
So you end up making half the pay of the original job, but you have some sort of contact where you work one year and then take a year off, or even smaller chunks like 6 months on/off, 1 month on/off, 1 week on/off, etc.
It seems like anyone making close to six figures (in the US) would be much happier taking half the pay in order to get a ton of time off to go enjoy their lives. People wouldn't be in a hurry to retire anymore.
Why isn't this a thing yet? Is there some logistical impossibility that I'm missing?

Why isn't "chunked" job sharing a thing?
