just got a job offer to join ibew local 332 Starting off 33.82 an hour. Estimated 60k a year with no overtime Full benefits after three months 401k match & pension paid into by the union, after a year I believe. OT is double time. Technically 2, almost 4 dollar raises each year with wage adjustment. After 5 years I’ll be at 75 an hour, probably more with wage adjustment. Estimated 120k-250k a year. 22 years. Retire at 58
Or I stay where I am as a conductor Currently making 43 an hour full benefits. However, I pay partial health care(150 a month) & pay into my pension plan. Rail road retirement doesn’t pay social security. Instead we pay these tiers which ends being a lot but apparently turns out to be a great pension plan. 30 yrs & retire at 60 Chill easy job. However automation is on the horizon and I don’t know what will happen as far as job security. Currently at 100k for the year. Last year I made 114k On call & have a shit schedule with no weekends off. Also, growth within the company is very limited & difficult. Surrounded by nepotism.
